Graduate R&D Laboratory Chemist

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chemistry graduate to join a well-established manufacturing business within its R&D team.

This role offers the chance to work on real-world product development projects, supporting the testing and improvement of high-performance materials used in demanding environments. You will gain hands-on experience across laboratory testing, materials evaluation and formulation work, making this an excellent first role for someone looking to build a career in industrial R&D.

The Role

As part of the R&D team, you will play a key role in supporting product development and durability testing programmes. Your responsibilities will include:

- Monitoring and analysing product performance over time

- Supporting laboratory-based projects focused on pigments and material formulations

- Conducting experiments and accurately recording and interpreting data

- Preparing clear technical reports to support development work

- Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring testing runs efficiently

- Working closely with R&D, production and quality teams on ongoing projects

- Identifying opportunities to improve testing methods and processes

About You

We are looking for a motivated and inquisitive graduate who is keen to develop a career in an industrial R&D environment. You will ideally have:

- A degree in Chemistry or a related discipline

- Practical laboratory experience (academic or industrial)

- The ability to plan and carry out experiments and analyse results

- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach

- Good communication skills, both written and verbal

- A proactive and self-motivated mindset
